History

Yarrabilba was first established in 1862, and has seen significant change in its area. The name Yarrabilba comes from the Wangerriburra/Bundjalung language which means place of song. From 1915 to 1955 the Beaudesert railway line passed through the area. Camp Cable was a World War II military training base camp, and was situated on most of the land which is now part of Yarrabilba.

Following the redevelopment of the area, new schools have recently opened.  New schools include St Clare’s Catholic Primary School, Yarrabilba State School, and Yarrabilba State Secondary College.  In addition, there is another secondary school planned to open in 2021.

Public Transport

Bus services currently connect Canungra and Yarrabilba.  So this makes access to local adjoining areas easy. Also, it was announced in 2019 that new TransLink bus services will be provided to the area.  This will align with the rail services at Loganlea and Beenleigh for access into Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

Stores and Amenities

Yarrabilba has conveniently placed shops and shopping districts.  These include the soon-to-be-completed Yarrabilba Hotel, Coles Supermarket, IGA Supermarket, Caltex Service Station and Star Mart and McDonald’s. There are also a range of other professional services operating within the area.
