Overview

Bald Hills (Post Code 4036)

Touted as “an easy place to live”, Bald Hills with all its conveniences, sits 18 kms north of Brisbane CBD. Of the population of 6502 (2016 census), 23.7% of whom live in rental accommodation, many hail and praise the many benefits of this hidden gem in SE Qld.

A lot to love about property here…

Wide streets, ‘old country town’ feel, proximity to the Bay, good schools and great child care options plus abundant shopping centres, breezy afternoons courtesy of the Pine River that forms its northern border, fantastic public transport service, the awesome Neighbourhood watch-group

The Position One Property Management team love their job here, as our tenants who cleverly snap up available properties for rent get to enjoy this enviable lifestyle.

Transport Connections

Central and homey, abundant green and open spaces, easy access to the surrounding north-side suburbs including Brisbane Airport – the list goes on! The main road leading to and running through the north-side suburbs that is Gympie Road, becomes the Gympie Arterial Road at the neighbouring suburb of Carseldine.

Property convenient for intrastate travel…

Gympie Arterial runs northerly on and terminates at the Gateway Motorway (which leads south toward the airport and Pacific Motorway/Gold Coast). From then on it is now The Bruce Highway. It’s not hard to see how convenient it is to own property here. The Bruce Highway takes you onward north again, not only to the Sunshine Coast an hours drive away, but all the way to coastal Cairns – an almost 20 hour drive away.

Great Value

For a suburb so close to the city, it is felt property in Bald Hills is undervalued and priced well under the Brisbane median.

Good sized blocks of land, over 800 m2, are still available. So too a quality brick and tile home on an adequate-sized block of land.

The median average rent per week for property here is $395 (2016 Census) and the average buying price of a home is $460,000 (2016 Census).

Education

Bald Hills State School caters for boys and girls from prep to year 6, and includes a special education program. The private St Pauls Anglican School provides both primary and secondary education for boys and girls.

There is no government secondary school in Bald Hills. However, three are located in the nearby suburbs. One is Bracken Ridge State High in Bracken Ridge to the east. The next is Pine Rivers State High in Strathpine to the north-west. Then there is Aspley State High in Aspley to the south.

As an aside – did you know this? The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association of Qld have a breeding and training centre homed in Bald Hills.

Heritage Spots

Bald Hills Radiator is a prominent structure on the eastern side of the suburb. It is a 198m tall AM radio transmission tower for the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation), channeling all Brisbane AM radio programs.

Hoop Pines. Situated in the front of the admin building of St Pauls Anglican School are the pair of mature Hoop Pine trees that were only listed heritage as recently as February 2022. The taller is believed to be approximately 190 years old and the smaller 140.

Bald Hills Presbyterian Church. Built in 1910 with high quality timbers and rose windows in a Federation Carpenter Gothic Style, the church has served the spiritual needs of the local presbyterian community for well over a hundred years. A most aesthetic contribution to the scape of Strathpine Rd, Bald Hills.

Transport

There are over 50 Translink bus stops in and around Bald Hills. The regular bus service has connections running to Brisbane CBD, Redcliffe and beyond.

There is also a Personalised Public Transport (PPT) service run by BCC (Brisbane City Council). This is a low cost hail and ride system connecting residents to their local transport hubs.

Bald Hills has a designated park and ride train station. A half hour train trip south brings you to Brisbane central station.
