Northgate (Post Code 4013)

Property Managers Brisbane

Northgate is a popular suburb of Brisbane with approximately 4,500 residents. This quiet and pretty suburb lies to the east of Wavell Heights and just to the south of the suburbs of Virginia and Banyo. To the east is Kedron Brook. Kedron Brook is an urban creek which wends its way northwards to Moreton Bay at Nudgee Beach. And, further past Kedron Brook is Brisbane Airport. Property Management Northgate is one of our prime areas of service. Be sure to contact us if you would like a no-obligation appraisal.

The suburb is popular among city workers since it is only nine kilometres away from Brisbane’s central business district. Northgate is a suburb with a nice blend of ages – from retirees, to families to children. Although, according to recent census data, the median age in Northgate is 34 – a little under the Australian average – a significant proportion of the population is made up of retired people and under 16s.

A Brief History

Northgate was named after the railway station that was built in the area in the late nineteenth century. One of the oldest institutions in the suburb was the Northgate-Virginia School of Arts which first opened its doors as far back as 1922 (Click Here to see a lovely old photo of the building!). This building served as the municipal library before being redeveloped as a public hall.

Northgate has also been known for its local pineapple canning plant which opened for business in 1947.  Locals will be familiar with the brand Golden Circle, which unfortunately is no longer Australian Owned.

Housing in Northgate

The property management Northgate property owners can expect from Position One Property is of a high quality. We are well experienced in the suburb of Northgate and nearby Wavell Heights, Chermside and  Stafford.

Much of the housing stock in the suburb was built in the latter half of the twentieth century and it remains in good condition. Typical residential streets – such as Cook Street in the west of the suburb – consist of well-maintained two-storey dwellings with weatherboarding and verandahs.

The professional property management Northgate residents can expect from Property One is exceptional all over the suburb, however. Neatly cut lawns are to be found facing streets like O’Farrell Avenue in the west and Fraser Road in the south. Even properties facing one of the suburb’s busier roads – Toombul Road which connects to the Southern Cross Way – are in kept in pleasing condition, generally speaking.

Transportation

Anyone considering the property management Northgate has to offer will also be interested to find out more about the local transport links. Firstly, the M1 Gateway Motorway is located only a short drive from the suburb. It provides excellent links to Gold Coast to the south and Sunshine Coast to the north. Brisbane’s main airport is just a few minutes away by road, too. The suburb’s aforementioned railway station lies on the junction of two lines, Shorncliffe and North Coast. As such, Northgate is a great place for people who want both local and long-distance services on their doorstep.

Shopping and Dining in Northgate

Most of Northgate’s residents head to Nundah Village or Ascot for larger shops. However, there are also several convenience stores situated in Northgate itself.  So, it is not always necessary to get in the car to obtain essentials. There are a couple of places serving food along the Toombul Road.  Locals love the Snack Bar at the intersection with Northgate Road and the Cafe Gateway close to Oates Parade, is another favourite.  Some convenient petrol stations exist as well. Kitchen 8, on Crockford Street, serves fresh local produce and is renowned for its all-day brunch.
