Property Management Chermside

Chermside is located around 10 km North of Brisbane’s centre.  Residents of the well-established suburb of Chermside have enjoyed the renewal of the suburb in recent years.   This renewal includes the development of retail shopping facilities along Gympie Road and the relocation of the Australian Taxation Office.

Australia’s first private-enterprise, freestanding, drive-in shopping centre – the Westfield Shoppingtown – is located in Chermside. Classified as a regional shopping centre, it has undergone recent extensive renovation.  The precinct includes a three-storey department store, hundreds of speciality shops, cinemas, a bowling alley and a major bus station. Chermside has enjoyed other large developments over the past few decades.  These include many new churches, a service reservoir, fire station, additional local reserves and a municipal library. The area is also known for the Prince Charles Hospital and the Holy Spirit Northside Private Hospital.

The marriage of street blocks with older-style chamferboard houses and others with newer medium density complexes and townhouses is characteristic of Chermside. More than 25% of homes in the area are occupied by couples with children, 41% by couples with no children and single parent households account for 26% of Chermside’s residential population. 53% of the dwellings in Chermside are stand alone houses, and 32% are units.

Schools

Schools in the area include:

  • Craigslea State School,
  • Craigslea State High School,
  • Chermside Early Education Centre and Pre-School, and
  • Craigslea Pre-School.

Additional schools are located in Chermside and even more are easily accessible in suburbs nearby.

Recreation

Recreational facilities include a local public swimming pool, health and fitness clubs, good walkways and bikeways.  Also, a wide range of sports and leisure interests are catered for in Chermside, including:

  • zumba dance classes,
  • a soccer club,
  • an archery club,
  • a bonsai club,
  • a racing pigeon federation club, and
  • the Chermside aquatic centre.

For nature lovers, the Chermside Hills Reserve and Downfall Creek Bushland Centre along the Mountains to Mangrove corridor contain well marked trails and an educational centre. Environmental activities and events are often held at these reserves.
