The Fieritalia festival is a celebration of Italian culture in Queensland and there’s a lot of fun and food for everyone to enjoy.
It wouldn’t be an Italian event without authentic cuisine, aromatic pasta dishes, Italian sausages flavoured with fennel, porchetta, arancini, wood-fired gourmet pizzas and other mouthwatering dishes. There can be no comparison to the Italian cakes, pastries and desserts, such as cannoli, tiramisu, crostoli and gelati that will be available on the day.
Throughout the day, traditional street entertainers, jugglers, stilt walkers and circus performances will imitate historical renaissance activities and don’t miss the opportunity to admire some renaissance costumes.
Sit on the green grass, enjoy lunch and watch some of the entertainment on the main stage or admire the vintage vehicles on display before heading over to the wine tasting marquee for a burst of flavor in the Italian liqueurs.
Be sure to check out the Condottieri, a group dedicated to recreating the look and feel of an Italian mercenary encampment from the 15th century. Visit the Renaissance Cultural Pod which will display prints of renaissance paintings, musical instruments and an exhibition of costumes. There is even the option to take part in swordplay with the Prima Spada Renaissance Fencing Exhibition, aimed at reviving, teaching and practicing the ancient art of Western European swordplay.
For the littlies, thrill them with Venetian mask face painting, rides and competitions, or visit the ILC language spots and learn some new Italian words. A Presto!
