First home buyers and investors find the suburb of Stafford – located 7 km from the Brisbane CBD west of Lutwyche Road – a popular choice of residence, with some original Queenslander-style homes and a significant number of Queensland Housing Commission homes on good-sized quarter-acre blocks constructed in the 1940s and 1950s. Chermside offers the nearest hospital services from the Prince Charles and Holy Spirit Hospitals and the Royal Brisbane Hospital is about 20 minutes from Stafford.

The public transport services in Stafford include railway stations at nearby Enoggera and Alderley and a well-organised bus service for use by city workers and local travellers who commute or travel to or from the garden suburb of Stafford.
